The music of Lieven Duvosel often remains underexposed. Discover his beautiful Ave Maria here.
Au commencement was written for De Tweede Adem (2nd Breath) under the direction of Maarten Van Ingelgem. Comment le monde fut créé d'une goutte de lait is a creation story of the Fulani, people who live in Mali, among others. As the composition shows, milk is central in their culture.
This is perhaps Waelrant's best-known work. It is very popular with choirs in Flanders and the Netherlands.
The fourteen Cantica (= Hymns) for three equal voices and organ ad libitum probably originate from about 1912. It is a collection of fresh motets, also suitable for children's voices, that can be sung at various moment during the liturgical year.
Almost all works by Hayne Van Ghizeghem are three-part pieces. The chanson Allez regrets was so popular in late 15th century Europe that it appears in no fewer than 25 separate sources. The chansons were used as source material in many later works by other composers.
The Missa Brevis has 5 parts: Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Agnus Dei and Halleluja. The complete score was published by Norsk Musikforlag. There are also versions for male and female choir, always with optional electronics.
A simple five-part motet as a vocal thanksgiving.
Studying and performing A lullaby not only gives great pleasure in singing, but is also excellent for practicing and experiencing some important aspects of choral singing in detail, partly due to the slow pace. Interpreting the text plays a major role in this song: be aware of word expression, pronunciation and sound.
