Marcel Ponseele
Biography
Education
Marcel Ponseele (°1957) studied modern oboe at the conservatories of Bruges, Brussels and Ghent. During his studies he also focused on instrument building and is now a renowned builder of 18th century oboes.
Career
In 1980 Marcel Ponseele was a finalist of the Musica Antiqua competition and started working as a freelance musician for many orchestras and ensembles specialized in historical performance practise: La Petite Bande, Collegium Vocale, Orchestre des Champs-Elysées and his own ensemble Il Gardellino.
Teacher
In addition to the concerts, Ponseele gave numerous masterclasses abroad and was a teacher at the conservatories of Paris and Brussels for many years.
A fresh start
As a young pensioner, Ponseele now focuses on music theory. Since 2021 he has been taking lessons and enjoys the course harmony and writing lab in the class of Christophe Goedvriend, teacher at the Music Academy De Kunstbrug in Gentbrugge. With his work de Grens for 3 female voices and piano, he takes his first steps into the world of music writing.
