International Composition Course 6-10 July, aimed at artists who are just starting out and young professionals, from Belgium and abroad. What's more: young composers will get the chance to have their works for choir performed on 10th July ‘20 in Antwerp, during the World Choir Games at the gala concert Visions of Sound.
Young people and adults with a passion for composing and creating will spend five days working intensively towards a presentation in which the work will be performed. The course is aimed at artists who are just starting out and young professionals, from Belgium and abroad, who will benefit from the extra encouragement this course provides. They will be selected on the basis of their motivation, scores, sound recordings and development potential.
Established names Wim Henderickx and Diederik Glorieux will lead this composition course. Composer and sound artist Jorrit Tamminga will once again immerse the composers in the world of electronic music.
In collaboration with the World Choir Games 2020
This year we will pay special attention to composing for orchestra and for choir. Thanks to a partnerschip with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, several young composers will get the chance to have their works performed by a full symphonic orchestra in 2021. There is also a unique collaboration with the World Choir Games; young composers will get the chance to have their works for choir performed on 10th July ‘20 on 10th July ‘20 in Antwerp, during the World Choir Games, at the gala concert Visions of Sound.
This year the composition course will take place at the beautiful historical site Landcommanderij Alden Biesen. SoundMine is an organization of Musica - Impulscentrum voor Muziek in cooperation with Landcommanderij Alden Biesen, Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and World Choir Games 2020.
